If you remember, the International Rescue Committee (IRC), in collaboration with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), was working to release a BHA-funded Protection Analysis Training Package. Great news, the resource package has been published!!! As a case example, InterAction previously highlighted the reasons for the resource package being developed and its relationship with its Results-Based Protection (RBP) program.

The package consists of practical tools tailored to frontline staff, coordination actors, and those steering broader humanitarian strategies. The package includes a Protection Analytical Framework (PAF) developed in close collaboration with other agencies in the Information and Analysis Working Group (IAWG) through the Global Protection Cluster and approved in April 2021.

Furthermore, the resource package helps to promote a way of structuring and organizing the information needed for protection analysis which can be contextualized for other crises and organizations. Its fit-for-purpose tools to assist in comprehending continuous, improved research will contribute to achieving better protection outcomes for communities affected by crisis and conflict.

To support the resource package, IRC and DRC have released a series of videos that explain important concepts, tools, and steps in the process of thorough and collaborative protection analysis. Each video is linked to (and explores concepts or processes in focus within) the relevant module of the Protection Analysis Training Package. The sequence of the videos supports a shared understanding of what an analysis of protection risks means, what information is needed to identify and understand protection risks in their context, and how to analyze and prioritize risk. Later modules highlight what to consider when determining the collective problem-solving approach based on your analysis findings, as well as how to set up an information management system to support continuous analysis and its use for problem-solving and strategic design.

The videos sound like they are a great tool. How do I access them?
