Culture and People – Shifting Mindsets: Creating a More Flexible Humanitarian Response

Following its webinar last year on Adaptability and Flexibility within the humanitarian system, ALNAP released a report titled Shifting Mindsets: Creating a More Flexible Humanitarian Response. The report, broken into five sections, attempts to address the struggle that humanitarian agencies have grappled with when it comes to adapting context, changing the type and quantity of support at the right time, or responding quickly and appropriately to unexpected crises or challenges.

Independent Evaluation of InterAction’s Results-Based Protection Program

With the financial support of the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), InterAction commissioned an independent evaluation of its RBP program. The evaluation reviews the RBP program against its strategic objective to determine the relevance and effectiveness of InterAction’s varying RBP activities and efforts.

GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE PREVENTION: A Results-Based Evaluation Framework

The GBV PEF is a set of guiding approaches aimed at helping practitioners make better decisions in their analysis, program design, and measurement such that GBV prevention outcomes can ultimately be evaluated. It has been built on the foundation of the Results-Based Protection framework developed by InterAction and endorsed by a broad set of humanitarian actors, including international non-governmental organizations, ICRC, and international organizations.

On June 2nd 2021, the International Association of Professionals in Humanitarian Assistance and Protection (PHAP) organized a launch event of the report titled Towards Principled Humanitarian Action in Conflict Contexts – Understanding the Role of Partnerships: Voices from Nigeria and South Sudan.

2020 Results-Based Protection Good Practice Contest – Winners and Prizes

In September 2020, for the first time, InterAction launched a contest to collect examples from the humanitarian community demonstrating how they have embraced the Key Elements of Results-Based Protection (RBP) in their work to address protection issues in humanitarian crises.

As a submission to the 2020 Results-Based Protection (RBP) Good Practice Contest, Elena Bartoloni from the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) team in Iraq presented a tool that is designed to facilitate a community-based and participatory approach to the identification, prioritization, and analysis of protection risks. The tool, awarded “Runner-Up” in the RBP contest, provides an excellent framework for light-touch context-specific protection analysis according to the risk equation, a key element of Results-Based Protection (RBP).
